Better deportations than bounties

Italy's new government hasn't waited to act on the migrant crisis:
Italy will seek to deport more migrants who have no right to be in the country and will open new detention centers to hold them before their expulsion, according to a written directive and a ministry source. Police chief Franco Gabrielli sent a two-page directive to stations across the country on Friday ordering them to increase efforts to identify and deport migrants a week after Berlin Christmas market attacker Anis Amri was shot dead near Milan.

The directive, seen by Reuters, says police should take "extraordinary action" before the "growing migratory pressure in an international context marked by instability and threats" to "control and remove irregular foreigners."

Interior Minister Marco Minniti plans to open several new detention centers that hold migrants prior to their expulsion, a ministry source said, in line with repeated requests by European Union partners.

The tougher migrant stance, which several Italian papers ran on their front pages on Saturday, is the first major policy change made by Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni's government since it took power in mid-December, and comes on the heels of a record year of boat migrant arrivals.

It also comes less than a month after the Berlin truck attack by Amri that killed 12, including an Italian woman.
We'll see how serious they are about this, but if the government doesn't resolve the situation soon, the people are going to take care of it themselves. And the Sicilian Vespers will probably be the model, given that famous Italian temperance.

If this really happens it means the Italian ruling elite have decided to save themselves rather than be forced from power like the other Western elites.

VD any idea on what "migrants with no rights to be in the country" means in Italian political-speak?

Does it mean what it seems at first glance or are they going to issue temporary Schengen visas (which would give the "right" to be there"?

It's a step in the right direction but listen to the weasel words by Reuters:
"seek to deport" => attempt or try how?
"more migrants" => more than what?
"no right to be in the country" => some do have that right?

As you casually leave the door to head to another day at the office, a VFET (vile faceless extraterrestial) waves to you from his lawn next door as the piercing, shrill sound of a Gamma screaming rings out. Next to the VFET, you see what appears to be a wooden amalgamation of the male and female symbols standing upright from a small dirt pile surrounded by soft, dew-soaked grass. On the wooden construct, you notice what looks like a... well, you're not really sure if it's a man or a woman nailed to it. It screams a refrain:

"It seems to me that you're not a very friendly alien!" Ah, you say, it's male.

The VFET points what appears to be some kind of gas-powered device at the wooden construct, and lights it on fire. You shake your head as you get into your car, and just as you leave your driveway, you swear you could almost see your VFET neighbor's face stretch as if it was smiling...

Read Mario Puzo, there are reasons they aren't openly confrontational. What sounds optional isn't. There are Italians alive today who remember a mob killing their leader who didn't serve the nation's best interests. Could just be weasel words from politicians, time will tell.

Blogger Corrado January 01, 2017 11:18 AM

I'm an Italian on holiday in Italy right now, and I can guarantee the politicians are lying through their teeth with these measures.

They are talking about deporting around 5-10,000 illegal, when we receive 180,000+ a year through the boats that our marine escorts to our land once they are found near our coasts.

This will only be stopped by sheer anger of our population, which will happen within 2017 or 2018 at most. Our leaders are not listening at all to our voice that said NO! to the Constitution change, and they just self-elected a photocopy of Renzi.

I left this country several years ago, as I couldn't foresee the migrant exodus created by Sarkozy and the USA when the French President asked the Americans to kill Geddafi in order to take the oil from Italian companies and pass it to French ones.

But now the Italians are starting to go against many of the propaganda news they are receiving from our main tv channel and newspaper.

Their boats must be sunk at sea so they never get in in the first place. Those who are in ought get 25 years at hard labor, without compensation, auction tomorrow, whoever buys is responsible for their property's future acts. And no more fucking refugees for any reason.

When State elitists refuse to enact or even acknowledge majority will, then organizations like the Mafia become inevitable.

If I were an Italian, I would pay the Mafia to sink a few invader boats before they got 10 feet from the Libyan coast. Let the invaders wade back and ponder a new reality.

Anonymous JustAnotherPairOfEyes January 01, 2017 3:59 PM

@16 Corrado; The first step in stopping illegal immigration is to make immigration more painful than staying at home. These camps, whether they're called "transit camps" or "concentration camps" should be sufficient. Yes, the numbers they're talking about now aren't enough but they are a first step. It's clear where they're going to have to go.

@26 "If the Italians went after the NGO ships..." Exactly right. Next step will be to detain people who own or crew these boats and impound the boats. Take the profit motive out of it and it will go away.

The Europeans are deeply socialist. As this immigration fiasco continues they're going to vote right wing and for them that means national socialist / fascist.

As far as "societal collapse", history shows that national socialism is extremely durable. I get the impression that people think that Germany is going to collapse because of a few dozen suicide bombers. Those bombs are maybe 40 pounds each... My father's generation dropped ~5,400,000,000 pounds of bombs on Germany but at the end of the war they were still making jet fighters. In terms of bomb weight, that was about 135 million suicide bombers. There ain't that many suicidally inclined moslems on the planet much less in Germany.

And the Germans didn't surrender because of strategic bombing. They were still fighting after the Soviet Union had occupied Berlin. A handful of amateur bombers are going to bring them to their knees??? Not a chance. Electing the far right, yeah the terrorists might be able to pull that off. And the far right will do what has to be done.

Anonymous Grinder January 01, 2017 4:19 PM

@36 Agreed. 2017 is going to be a great year with Europeans climbing back from the brink, The inertia built up that stops so many from standing up to the failed status quo is reduced with each terrorist attack, gang rape, mugging and overt boasts of replacing whites and the native European culture.

It's a huge shit sandwich alright but yeah there is way too much"Germany is finished" type nonsense going around. The demographic crisis that has been going on for decades is a far, far more pressing issue for inhabitants or European countries.
It's just possible that an acute crisis and the dissembling apologetics of our quisling fifth column urban lefties will generate a reaction that may save Europe from the death by attrition we had been facing.

On the Vietnamese economic refugees in Hong Kong, please forgive me if I'm bringing up a subject that's been already discussed...

A great example of economic refugees flooding an advanced state is what happened when Hong Kong stupidly gave refugee status to anyone from Vietnam in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.

I couldn't find the InfoGalactic article so here's the wikipedia:

"The illegal entry of Vietnamese refugees was a problem which plagued the Government of Hong Kong for 25 years. The problem was only resolved in 2000. Between 1975 and 1999, 143,700 Vietnamese refugees were resettled in other countries and more than 67,000 Vietnamese migrants were repatriated.[3]"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnamese_people_in_Hong_Kong

The refugees were stopped by putting them into concentration camps. I visited one of these camps; my recollection is that they put a family of 5 into about 30 or 40 square feet and another family on their roof. It wasn't the kind of living quarters you would risk your life to get into and the result was that the Vietnamese quit trying. A lot of them were forced to return to Vietnam (which treated them like semi-traitors of course).

It's interesting to note that the problem went on for decades. You would think that the Cantonese would have figured out the solution and implemented it a lot faster than that, but Hong Kong was run by the British until around 1997.

The move by the Italians will be copied by the other European states and this will slowly resolve the problem. But I'm guessing that it won't resolve the problem before making big changes in their politics i.e. nationalist vs globalist.

Blogger Martin January 02, 2017 10:24 AM

There are two efficient ways to deport large numbers of invaders.
One: Destroy your infrastructure and bring the standard of living of the majority of the people down to subsistence level with components of starvation. Maybe more effective here in the north than in Italy.
Two: Remove the protection of life and property for people without citizenship or visa.

Both methods rely on economic incentives rather than force. Force is ineffective, especially when you have large numbers of invaders already inside your borders.

Blogger Were-Puppy January 02, 2017 3:51 PM

They could make a sport out of sinking invaders boats.
The more thrown overboard, the more points.

Blogger Tom Kratman January 02, 2017 4:44 PM

@51. There's another, related way; make the penalty for illegal presence a lifetime of uncompensated servitude at hard labor, auction tomorrow. Then they can be expected to self deport.

Anonymous Discard January 03, 2017 1:20 PM

51. Martin: Force is extremely effective. Ask the Tutsis. Ask the Jews. Ask the Indians.
