Daily Meme Wars

Subscribe to the Daily Meme Wars

UPDATE: 3,275 people have now signed up for the #DailyMemeWars. Join the party, we're having fun!

After talking to a couple of people who follow me on Twitter and somehow didn't realize I'd published a single book, let alone 15, I've been thinking about how it might be possible to increase the general awareness of Castalia's catalog while simultaneously expanding our collective meme war capabilities. Nearly 10,000 of you are on the New Release mailing list, but I'm not willing to use that for anything but announcing new ebook releases once or twice a month. We don't even email announcements of new print or audiobook editions, although we probably should.

But I was thinking that by putting out a Meme of the Day, which everyone on the MemeWar email list could then put up on their blog, Gab, or Twitter that day, we might be able to effectively set things trending on a regular basis. The Meme of the Day would be "sponsored" by one of our books, which might or might not be related.

And yes, I know an address shows up when you subscribe. No worries.

Blogger wreckage July 09, 2017 2:05 PM

Good idea, IMO. I am assuming this would be a Castalia House themed meme-ography rather than a rather spicier Vox Special Blend?

Blogger VD July 09, 2017 2:08 PM

rather than a rather spicier Vox Special Blend?

Hmmmm... hadn't really thought that one through. No, I think it would be the latter. I expect those not interested in politics would simply not opt into it.

Blogger Mr Traumaboyy July 09, 2017 2:09 PM

Great idea!!! My wife was wondering what I was looking at on my phone yesterday while floating in the pool. I was reading throne of bones!!! Keep it coming Vox!!

Anonymous Stg58/Animal Mother July 09, 2017 2:13 PM

Good stuff. Yesterday was good too with the CNN dragging behind the Trump Crusader.

Anonymous Gurpgork July 09, 2017 2:15 PM

Sounds great, where do I sign up?

Anonymous Ezekiel Cassandros July 09, 2017 2:16 PM

Probably best for this to be a Vox Day thing instead of a Castalia House thing. But I definitely would sign up either way.

Blogger tuberman July 09, 2017 2:19 PM

Sure, do it.

Enjoyed the straight contradiction in the current meme, showing CNN in it's true nature.

Blogger Elocutioner July 09, 2017 2:21 PM

I like it.

Thought - boil down their stories to a few templates and each time they pull one of these fill it in madlib-style then drop in the real reporting like Vox did at the bottom. Demonstrate that CNN et al's reporting is on par with a grade schooler's puzzle book.

How about a 'Choose your own narrative' adventure stories. Place CNN reporting on par with a kid's magazine puzzle.

Blogger JimR July 09, 2017 2:22 PM

Shut up and take my... email?

Amazing you have survived the Storm of Fury from the 6'10" Navy Seal with access to the Entire Marines arsenal!!!

My Evil Lord, your feats and name precedes you! Your enemies tremble every step you come closer!

I already said on that recording... They have an AI to produce Fake News in real time, you can't win!

HOLY MEME WAR NOW

Anonymous Milton Nevis July 09, 2017 2:30 PM

And so it begins

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/09/politics/trump-russia-meeting-campaign/index.html?sr=twCNN070917trump-russia-meeting-campaign1149AMStory

There is now PROOF that Trump and Russia colluded to steal the election. Its time for war.

Blogger VD July 09, 2017 2:32 PM

All right, I've created a new list and a new signup form. If you want in on the Meme Wars, just sign up and we'll get this party started.

Anonymous Rip July 09, 2017 2:33 PM

Haha, why are they including injured protestors as part of the "damage?"

Blogger wreckage July 09, 2017 2:34 PM

@13 Clearly the 6'10" SEAL was too busy shagging his sterilized way across the EU and turning down tenured positions at Cambridge and Oxford to get around to activating his personal spy network just yet.

Blogger Kristophr July 09, 2017 2:48 PM

Here is a vieo interview of HansAssholeSolo laughing his ass off off about the whole damned thing ( be sure to turn the captioning on ):

I have to laugh at how many people think the CNN tweet is real. That's how bad it is; that this sort of thing is believable.

Blogger Kristophr July 09, 2017 2:59 PM

Oh, and here are a bunch of Antifa fascists applauding Adolf Hitler quotes:

Vox, did you mean to have an address visible on the submission verification page?

Blogger Eric Mueller July 09, 2017 3:03 PM

I'll sign up for a Meme of the Day list. That would be cool.

Anonymous JT July 09, 2017 3:04 PM

@23

That CNN tweet is real though

Blogger T-Rav July 09, 2017 3:06 PM

Forgive me for asking, but is that a real tweet from CNN?

Anonymous Icicle July 09, 2017 3:11 PM

Is CNN huffing glue at this point?

"They'll get the trailer BUT NEVER THE DESK

At least not while I am alive!"

Blogger Kristophr July 09, 2017 3:13 PM

I think they are beyond the huffing glue stage.

They have become a black hole of ant-information.

Blogger Aeoli Pera July 09, 2017 3:13 PM

I can't even use $$$ signs in my Gab username? Damn gyppos.

Blogger Kristophr July 09, 2017 3:14 PM

I meant anti-information, but they do kinda act like ants, except that they get less done.

Blogger Happy LP9 July 09, 2017 3:15 PM

Great, done and done! Gabbing away MOTD!

Blogger Kristophr July 09, 2017 3:15 PM

Aeoli: you have to do sanity checks on user names. Typing SQL delete codes into a "name" field on some poor sot's website is an old trick.

Anonymous bearspaw July 09, 2017 3:16 PM

@25 probably not necessary judging how superhuman the SEAL is, but just in case he gets lost in Milan...

Blogger Cail Corishev July 09, 2017 3:17 PM

Replies to the original tweet (yes, it's real, see @27's link) are running 100% against. Twitter must not be filtering them yet.

Anonymous johnc July 09, 2017 3:18 PM

@27

I stand corrected. I went looking and didn't find it in the past 24 hours. I should have went back further. Thanks for the correction.

Yes. Don't worry about it.

Anonymous Best Tea Party Member July 09, 2017 3:31 PM

Those peaceful protesters are neglecting to pick up their garbage. Have they no common decency?

Blogger SamuraiJack July 09, 2017 3:53 PM

I've re-enlisted. Don't tread on memes =D

Blogger RobertT July 09, 2017 4:13 PM

I think that's a good decision. When it comes to email lists, less is probably better. "Too many emails spoil the broth." Or whatever. Groupon for instance.

Blogger Cataline Sergius July 09, 2017 4:21 PM

Okay, here's my shot at it.

CNN's change from reasonably respected news organization to drunken demolition derby is perhaps a little confusing to sane and rational people.

We're reaching levels of #FakeNews that were not previously believed to even be possible. #CNNMemeWar #CNNBlackmail

Sure the Left has gone nuts bu why have they gone this nuts?

There are several factors in play. First and foremost is Left's adoption and veneration of the mental ill. It's easy to drive off a cliff when the driver honestly believes with all his heart and soul that the road ahead goes on for miles and anything that his senses are telling him about a gaping chasm in front of him is simply the product of a deranged imagination... Namely his own.

Blogger JimR July 09, 2017 4:32 PM

@39 oh excellent, I look forward to the coming eviscerations and skull polishing.

I understand, but I'm still mad at the Gypsies that designed SQL. How does one signal one's OG cred without indicating one's great wealth? My username was going to be Ginger $$Bread$$, now it's just Ginger_Supremacist. Still funny, less punchy.

Blogger Fred Carter July 09, 2017 5:59 PM

Anonymous SciVo de Plorable July 09, 2017 6:10 PM

You inspired me to make a meme again! (It's been awhile.) I considered emailing it to you, but I'm suspecting that if you don't make one yourself, you would rather pull from what already succeeded well enough to end up in front of you, and I should just post it on 8chan or something. What is your actual preference there?

Blogger VD July 09, 2017 6:57 PM

Anonymous SciVo de Plorable July 09, 2017 7:05 PM

Roger that. Guess it's finally time for a Gab account.

Somebody DO THIS.
Go Buy the Domain name: MEMEWARRIORS.com
And link it up to this action

Unfortunately, I cannot do it for various reasons.
But I wanted to let people know it was still available.

@VD
Just watched two darkstreams about meme wars; great as usual. You said that one problem is how dynamic social media is, people can and do miss memes that were posted earlier. So true, but, by extension, that's related to a conjoined tactic of the left, namely peoples' attention span, they lose interest. the other part of course is distraction. In fact, I'm wondering what they'll do to try and bail out CNN. Anyway, I had 4 thoughts related to this meme of the day idea; you might already have plans in place to address them.
1. A repository. People who are new could see what was put out earlier, people who deleted the email, but decided to use a meme could find it; and, browsing might be inspirational. Would allow people to do more than one a day.
2. Part of the repository could be for vector files. Probably few memes will be vector based, but Those that are can be rearranged very quickly, and used for other mediums. That's important to other media pros.
3. People tend to get too wordy, maybe a 100 word rule, maybe a rough sketch requirement; but often times one is too busy to belt out a meme, or it suffers quality wise because of the rush. So maybe there could be a meme idea section, where meme makers could get a new idea, or hone an existing one.
That's stuff I'd like to see, it would work against the left's tactics. Thanks. Thanks for a killer blog.

Anonymous Raker Tooth July 10, 2017 1:11 AM

Rats, I realized #4 could be added to #1. Better proofreading needed.

Anonymous CarpeOro July 10, 2017 7:43 AM

I don't bother turning on the news often any more, but I think one of the regular (non-cable) channels even showed the use of water cannons for crowd control on Friday. CNN isn't maintaining the unified front very well.

Anonymous Icicle July 10, 2017 3:28 PM

Ah, so it was bath salts rather than glue. Got it.

Anonymous Nania3333@yahoo.com July 10, 2017 5:33 PM

I tried posting the Crusader meme by taking a snapshot and posting it on Twitter but it did not work well. Your way is much better and I've gotten more 're-tweets. Thanks Vox!
